Building on our collaboration with Poblenou Urban District and one of their most active partners, the contemporary art gallery and production studio La Plataforma, we decided to create Urban Talks in October 2020. The first two editions of this biannual event featured the collaboration of the European project CENTRINNO, which focuses on strategies, methods and tools for the inclusive transformation of unused industrial urban areas.
The itinerant Urban Talks seek to create open dialogue with citizens about culture and creativity in relation to the urban environment. They offer a unique opportunity to discuss art, heritage, the economy, technology and sustainability with professionals who have excelled in these fields and allow us to see the future of cities with optimism.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent reopening of spaces, we decided to create a series of talks with the aim of bringing voices and perspectives from the world of creativity closer to the public, offering different angles and, above all, a positive view of the production of discourse, artwork, new media and channels of expression in a moment of collective crisis. These new spaces make it possible to share opinions with citizens independently.
To date, Urban Talks have been held at the Simon Factory (2020), Palo Alto Barcelona (2021), Razzmatazz Hall (2021), the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia – IAAC (2022) and the Disseny Hub Barcelona (2022/2023).
